The International Network for Advancing Science and Policy (INASP) is a highly experienced capacity development organisation. Based in Oxford, UK, we work with a global network of partners to strengthen research and knowledge systems for development. We have 30 years’ experience of working with universities, research institutes, national science academies, think tanks, civil society organisations, government agencies and parliaments, across Africa, Asia and Latin America.

To realise this, we work to strengthen the capacity of individuals and institutions to produce, share and use research and knowledge, in support of national development.  

Since our inception in 1992, INASP has designed and delivered hundreds of effective interventions to strengthen capacity and make knowledge systems more equitable in over 25 countries.  We focus on research capacity and communications, especially for early career researchers, teaching and learning in higher education, and gender equity, all focusing on research and knowledge systems in the Global South.  

The Role 

This is an exciting time for fundraising and communication in the international development sector. The whole landscape of operational agencies and funders is changing fast. We are looking for an experienced and innovative Fundraising Coordinator to support and improve our existing business development and fundraising activities, and to help us to develop new ones fit for the new era. The Fundraising Coordinator will report to the Partnerships and Business Development Manager but will also work with the Executive Director and other staff across the organisation to deepen our knowledge of funders and investors, to identify and pursue opportunities, and to produce the communication materials necessary to support this and maintain INASPs visibility. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Maintaining and developing our Microsoft Dynamics CRM for funders, partners, associates, and opportunity pipeline, and Microsoft SharePoint knowledge base on funders, opportunities and proposals.  

  • Leading on opportunity prospecting: maintaining and developing the list of relevant funders and funding databases identifying those which might be worth pursuing and then supporting the development of proposals. 

  • Supporting campaigns including sending mailings, managing and dealing with queries and triaging responses leading to new business, and engaging with supporters.  

  • Working with the programme team to help develop and format specific communication products to support business development and fundraising activities.  

  • Working with the Executive Director, Director of Programmes and other staff to help develop and format other organization-wide communication products e.g. general information pages on the website, external newsletters and the annual review and social media 

We are looking for candidates who have  

  • An undergraduate degree and significant experience supporting business development in small and medium sized organisations, in particular supporting fundraising from institutional funders and /or trusts and foundations 

  • Experience of analysing funder strategic priorities and requirements, identifying potential funders for a range of possible programme areas and summarising for guidance purposes 

  • Experience of supporting the production of proposals and supporting online donations and marketing campaigns 

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills and experience of maintaining and using a CRM system 

  • Strong inter-personal and influencing skills and ability to build good relationships and work with INASP colleagues and associates.  

  • Excellent communication skills particularly written presentation skills, writing for the web and social media 

  • A flexible and positive approach to change and a willingness to adapt to respond way to changing contexts and external demands

Terms 

Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 depending on experience or national equivalent consultancy fee if based outside the UK, and pro-rata if part time. 

Term: Prefer full-time, but could consider part-time  

Location: Flexible – anywhere +/- 3 hours of UK time. 

Employment type: If based in the UK: Standard UK employment contract. If based outside the UK: a consultancy arrangement which provides a locally equivalent income and benefits.

If you are subsequently employed by INASP, we will compile a file relating to your employment. The information contained in it will be kept secure and will only be used for purposes directly relevant to your employment. Once your employment with INASP has ended we will retain your file for 6 years in accordance with our retention schedule and then delete it.
