The International Network for Advancing Science and Policy (INASP) is a highly experienced capacity development organisation. Based in Oxford, UK, we work with a global network of partners to strengthen research and knowledge systems for development. We have over 30 years’ experience of working with universities, research institutes, national science academies, think tanks, civil society organisations, government agencies and parliaments, across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Our vision is of research and knowledge at the heart of development – where decisions are informed by relevant and rigorous evidence, and where knowledge is created with the communities it is intended to serve. That requires many voices, many institutions, and many types of knowledge. We call it an equitable knowledge ecosystem.
Since our inception in 1992, INASP has worked with universities, research institutes, government, and NGOs across the world. We provide point-of-need support to researchers and lecturers so they can build collaborations, get published and provide high quality learning for their students. We go beyond the apex institutions to support research talent in second cities and rural areas, by working with universities and research institutions to design training and mentoring programmes so their staff and students can thrive. We pay particular attention to gender, to create inclusive environments that enable both women and men to learn.
From transforming undergraduate teaching and learning to supporting researchers to influence policy and practice, our expertise lies in designing and delivering capacity development and learning programmes that leverage digital technologies and are grounded in a deep understanding of how adult professionals can build confidence and master new skills.
AuthorAID
AuthorAID is one of INASP's flagship initiatives. A pioneering global network, it provides support, mentoring, resources and training for researchers in low- and middle- income countries. AuthorAID is managed by INASP, and is led and facilitated by an active community, with a team of stewards based in universities and research institutions in Africa, Asia and Latin America, and a network of regular facilitators. It is kept free and open to all through partnerships with funders and sponsoring organisations.
