'Show me the Evidence' seminar

25 November 2011

A closer look at the extent to which policy making processes are informed by evidence, focusing on research in developing countries

Thursday 8th December 2011, 11.30 ‐ 1pm

Policymakers and the staff who support them are increasingly aware that decision making should be  informed by reliable evidence. However, there is debate over how to achieve this. There is a limited but growing body of research in this area, from both the developed and the developing world. In thisseminar a panel of parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and external experts discuss what lessons can be learned to date from research into evidence informed policy making, focusing mainly on the developing world. The seminar will look at the work of both legislatures and governments and ask how such research could help guide the work of researchers as well as organisations whose role is to provide policymakers with reliable information .
