Licensing and Negotiation Skills: Glossaries and Model Licenses
Licensing models and licensing term glossaries can be used to help librarians become familiar with the standard layout and terms or clauses within a license. Glossaries are useful tools for definitions of key terms and to help understand what they actually mean. The list is by no means exhaustive, so if you have additional resources you would like us to include please contact inasp@inasp.info

LicensingModels.Org
A collection of standard licenses designed for the acquisition of electronic journals, journal archives, e-books and other electronic resources, catering for different types of library: academic, public, and corporate/special libraries, together with consortia or multi-site library systems. There is also sample text to cover 30 or 60 day trials of new resources by libraries.

Association of Research Libraries (ARL)

Liblicense

Shared E-resource Understanding (SERU)
National Information Standards Organisation (NISO)
A NISO ‘best practice' scheme which seeks to overcome the current process of customer-by-customer, bi-laterally negotiated formal legal contracts by providing a common set of principles (termed ‘statements') by which signatories agree. Although the SERU statements are not intended to comprise a license, many of them address the same issues license agreements typically cover. Issues are discussed in broad terms with an emphasis on widely accepted practices and expectations. The document has been clearly written to promote understanding.
