2008
INASP Training-Cum-Workshop on Enhancing Awareness and use of e-information, Mahendra Morang Adarsh Multiple Campus Biratnagar, November 2008

The main training workshop, aimed at enhancing e-resource management capability of teachers and researchers, was attended by 27 participants from 11 constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University, 3 constituent campuses of Purbanchal University and B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan. However over 150 people attended the opening session which included heads of campuses and institutions. A number of speakers commented on the importance of electronic resources to enhance quality of research education and knowledge building and their commitment to support this in their institutions. Participants felt more confident with access and using the resources as a result of attending this training and requested that libraries are adequately funded in order to maximise impact. An ad hoc committee was formed to focus on the propositions for an autonomous institution at national level being supported by the universities (UGC- University Grant Commission), the ministry of education as well as the donor agencies working in Nepal to work for institutionalizing invaluable facilities provided by INASP in colleges/ research institutions etc. throughout the country.
Digital libraries conference technical workshop: Greenstone Digital Library and KOHA workshops, 21 March 2008 and 24-26 March 2008
Krishna Mani Bhandary, the Nepal PERii Country Coordinator and Librarian at Tribhuvan University Central Library, organised these three workshops, with support from INASP, to coincide with scheduling of the 2008 international digital libraries conference. Forty-four participants attended, representing 16 institutions, and contributed to the success of these workshops and benefited from a wide range of presentations by the co-facilitators and invited speakers. Lead facilitators were Ian Witten from the University of Waikato New Zealand and Aleck Smecher.
"i-connect 2008 National Workshop on Vision Science Resource Centre Collaboration" Lumbini Eye Institute, Shree Rana Ambika Eye Hospital, Siddharthanagar, 10-12 February 2008
This workshop was organized by Ms Sudha Risal Sharma, Resource Centre Coordinator/ Librarian at Lumbini Eye Institute. There was an international perspective provided at this event with the lead facilitator, P. Kirubanithi Sr. Librarian & Info Officer Aravind Eye Care System Madurai, from India and presentations by representatives of BCEIO/Seva in Canada, AVSL in the USA, as well as from the PERI CC in Nepal - Mr Bhandary. The focus of the workshop was to share current practice and develop and expand the i-connect network of librarians to include vision science librarians in Nepal. In addition an Asia chapter of the Association of Vision Science Librarians (AVSL) was established. The event was well received and feedback very positive indicating the opportunity this has provided for further development. Now we have the connection with the national as well as international librarians to share information of vision science literature. Plans are already underway for a presentation in March entitled "Utility study of 2 days workshop format for GSDL implemenation: case study of Lumbini Eye Institute".
2007
PERI resources and NEPJOL, Management Campus, Purwanchal University, Biratnagar, December 2007
Familiarisation workshop on PERI resources and NEPJOL was presented on 23 December by Mr Anand Prasad Chaudhary, Assistant Librarian, at the Management Campus, Purwanchal University, Biratnagar. Thirty five participants including the Dean, Campus Chief, Head of the Departments and Master Degree Students, attended the training and expressed their appreciation of the available resources.
Nepal Journals Online (NepJOL) Editorial Workshop, September 2007
An Editorial Workshop for editors of journals on the Nepal Journals Online (NepJOL) website was recently held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event was organised by Tribhuvan University Central Library and was attended by 20 editors from 10 journals, who learned about the activities and responsibilities of an editorial office. They also learned how to use the online peer review system available on the NepJOL website in order to receive and process articles for their journals.

Dynamic Society Nepal and Tribhuvan University Central Library together presented a 3 day residential workshop to 20 partcipants who represented 16 national institutions. The event, in Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, was entitled Scientific Literature Review for Knowledge Advocacy using PERI Online Resources. Following this event, participants felt more able and ready to present training to promote resource usage. Three shorter events were also run aimed to increase and promote electronic resources during June 2007
