Nasra Gathoni and Rosemary Otando, Kenya, sponsored to attend 33rd UKSG annual conference and exhibition

24 March 2010

UKSG PEEP (Peer Experience Exchange Programme) - Contributing to possibilities for representatives from our partner countries to have input and share experiences within international fora, two colleagues from Kenya, Nasra Gathoni and Rosemary Otando were successful in winning sponsorship to attend the UKSG 33rd annual conference and exhibition.

We received over 30 very strong applications and the areas we were particularly looking for were:

  • Linking of the UKSG agenda to experiences and expertise - either in areas applicants already have or are hoping to gain knowledge
  • Mention of how UKSG may be used as a networking event to share experiences and ideas with other library colleagues internationally
  • Applications from two participants within a country that are representing country-wide aims or make mention to different aspects/stakeholders within the research communication cycle (e.g. technical support/researcher areas/library management)
  • Innovative Ideas for the sharing of UKSG experience that would seem to be far-reaching - within the applicants own institution and on a national scale

To round of their experience Nasra and Rosemary will be coming into the Oxford office on April 15th to meet other INASP colleagues. Congratulations have been received and passed on from many of INASP's country coordinators.
