Two workshops were hosted by the Mekelle University in Ethiopia:

On 13 April, Mekelle University in Ethiopia held a locally facilitated 3 day Internet Introduction workshop for 14 members of staff representing all 7 faculties of the University. They had not previously had the opportunity for such training.
Electronic Journals workshop:
The Internet Introduction event was followed by an Electronic Journals workshop in June, for 24 participants.
Both workshops were well received and felt to be highly relevant to the work of the participants.

Policy development to support Bandwidth Management and Optimisation (BMO), Addis Ababa University, 23-25 June, 2007
This was a follow-up to an earlier BMO workshop in 2006 and aimed to address an identified need to familiarise participants with the process for development of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Policy. Participants discussed issues facing Ethiopian institutions and the importance of management involvement in implementation as well as looking at some sample policies. At the end of the workshop, all were very enthusiastic and keen to help develop their own institutional policies with many aiming to form steering or ICT development committees.
