Electronic Information Resources for Health Researchers and Professionals- INFORM

INFORM logo

INASP and the International Network for Online Resources and Materials (INFORM) have run a number of joint training workshops aimed at people working in the health sector (researchers, practitioners and information professionals) during 2005. Additional workshops are also being planned during 2006. Materials from one of these workshops are provided here.

These materials have been produced and provided by INFORM, an international collaborative network that has its administrative base in the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University in Sweden. INFORM provides on-site, subject-focused training about on-line information resources to health professionals and health information facilitators in low- and middle-income countries. The INFORM logo, which shows two persons joining hands, reflects our philosophy of promoting collaboration to span the information divide between countries.

The particular units made available here were prepared especially for the medical librarians and other health information facilitators participating in a training workshop organized by WHO Tanzania, AHILA, and INASP and held in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, 11-16 July 2005.

All web addresses included in the materials have been checked during the month immediately before the workshop, and all were valid. When addresses change, updates will be made in the on-line versions of the material.

The materials have two purposes.

  • One is to facilitate training and learning during the workshop itself. This is particularly true of the advanced units.
  • The other purpose is to provide the workshop participants with materials that they can use when they train others about on-line information retrieval.
