Monitoring and evaluation of e-resource use
A 3-day practical and participatory workshop for library and information professionals involved with the management and provision of electronic information services in academic and research organisations.
Aims and objectives
- to enable participants to access and interpret usage data from publishers' and INASP's databases
- to introduce participants to Evidence Base's eVALUEd toolkit
- to ensure participants are able to access and use toolkit resources
- to start work on an evaluation project which will supply data for the country's e-subscriptions renewals process under the PERI programme
Outline of workshop
The workshop covers the collection and use of quantitative and qualitative data, using information available from INASP, publishers, and participants' own data collection. It covers:
- reasons for evaluating
- identification of stakeholders
- identification of sources
- data collection methods
- management and analysis of data
- presenting and using findings
- planning an evaluation project
The workshop includes practical work, using the eVALUEd toolkit to begin a specific project.

Materials for the participants' handbooks are also available in Vietnamese, but have not been updated since September 2006.
The materials include presentation slides, participant handouts and exercises, and notes for facilitators. All materials are in a mixture of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Access and PDF formats. The files have been compressed to aid quick download. You will need WinZip or similar compression software to uncompress these files. The one Access database is for demonstration by the facilitator. This is .mdb format and may cause a warning message to appear when you unzip or download it.
