AuthorAID: Midterm review
AuthorAID @ INASP seeks to help researchers in developing countries to communicate their work more effectively particularly through publication with the aim to increase the visibility and influence of research undertaken within the developing world. The project focused on three components:
-
the development and support of a web-based community
-
an online mentoring system
- outreach work through workshops
The three-year pilot project phase began in January 2007 and, following preliminary work and recruitment, began in earnest in autumn 2007. By June 2008, a teaser site had been tested, a new full website launched. There had also been consultation with potential and existing users of the site, workshops were undertaken in Nairobi and Addis Ababa, and 25 teams of mentor-mentees were matched and had begun collaboration.
