PERii: Publishing Support

Programme for the Enhancement of Research InformationAs part of the Programme for the Enhancement of Research Information (PERii), INASP works with editors, publishers and authors to:

  • increase dissemination opportunities for nationally produced information so that the results of research undertaken and published locally become more widely known and accessible
  • enhance sustainable access to nationally produced research information
  • increase worldwide awareness and knowledge of indigenous scholarship
  • provide the opportunity for the enhancement of skills and quality in publishing

Key current activities are:

Journals Online (JOLs)

INASP works in partnership with the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), using their Open Journals System technology to support the development of websites that can host journals. INASP also works in partnership with CrossRef, the multi-publisher linking association, to include journals within their linking network and so increase their visibility and discovery.

Following the success of African Journals Online (AJOL), INASP has been helping to develop online solutions for journals published in Bangladesh, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. See the Journals Online page for more information.

The aim is to raise the visibility and quality of research from developing and emerging countries and to place it firmly on the international map.

Support for individual publishers, editors and authors

Research resources are only as strong as the people managing and contributing to them, so PERii provides a range of other publishing support including training, mentoring and small grants.

Publishing training workshops
INASP designs and runs workshops on publishing skills for editors and publishers of scholarly information in particular journals. These workshops are participatory, and involve group work and discussion with the objective of providing delegates with the knowledge to help make informed decisions about their own publications.

Further information on publishing workshops, as well as reference and presentation materials, is available.

AuthorAID @ INASP
AuthorAID at INASP (www.authoraid.info) is a pilot project which has been developed to support researchers during the publication process through mentoring, outreach workshops and an online knowledge community.
