IR/Dspace workshop october, 2008 The Library Development Programme sponsored 6 librarians (from Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia) to attend an institutional repository workshop and the use of DSpace at the University of Pretoria from 1-3 October 2008. All of the sponsored attendees managed to successfully install and administrate a working instance of DSpace.

Other topics included: formulating an e-strategy and conducting a needs analysis; compiling a proposal; e-Copyright; basics of digitization; basics of metadata; IR policies & procedures; marketing and getting buy-in from the community; best practice during the implementation of an IR

Participants were provided with template documents and presentations for use at their individual institutions.
