PERI: Strengthening National Research Publications

peri logoAs part of the Programme for the Enhancement of Research Information, INASP undertakes activities to support national scholarly publishing structures, working with publishers, editors, librarians, authors and other organisations to identify ways of improving the publication of their research through national journals. INASP also undertakes training of editors and publishers in publishing methodology, to familiarise them with the developments in scholarly communication within their own regions and worldwide, as well as how to make best use of ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) to disseminate their research findings.

Activities include the development of Journals OnLine systems to publish journals online (see www.ajol.info and INASP's Journals OnLine) and training workshops - see publishing workshops under Events.

The goals of this component are as follows:

  • To increase dissemination opportunities for nationally produced information.
  • To enhance sustainable access to the nationally produced research information.
  • To ensure the provision of training and skill sharing to enhance editing, publishing, production and distribution skills.
  • To ensure the improvement in quality of national publications.
