African Journals Online Publishing Project (AJOPP)

In response to request, in 2001 INASP held a workshop in Zimbabwe to discuss online publishing. Participants represented journals that were sufficiently well established to benefit from online publication, and who had expressed a desire to be supported in this endeavour. Outcomes from this original workshop were implementation plans for each of the journals, and INASP supported them to publish on different platforms, including Project Muse, Ingenta and Extenza (now Atypon). Support for the journals was provide by Roger Stringer in Zimbabwe. In 2006 a follow-up workshop was held based on the evaluation of the project.

At the start of the programme participating journals were

  • Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia (Ethiopia)
  • SINET (Ethiopia)
  • African Journal of Reproductive Health (Nigeria)
  • Zimbabwe Veterinary Journal (Zimbabwe)
  • Insect Science and its application (Kenya)
  • African Journal of Crop Science (Uganda)
  • Eastern African Social Science Research Review (Ethiopia)
  • Journal of Social Development in Africa (Zimbabwe)
  • African Plant Pathology (South Africa)
  • Ghana Journal of Agricultural Science (Ghana)

The African Journal of Health Science (Uganda) joined the programme in 2005.
