BanglaJOL editor awarded scholarship
INASP would like to congratulate Professor AKM Azharul Islam on being awarded a scholarship to attend the Council of Science Editors (CSE) Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, USA 14-18th May 2010. Prof Islam is the Editor of the Journal of Scientific Research which is included on the Bangladesh Journals Online (BanglaJOL) website.
The 2010 CSE Annual Meeting theme is 'The Changing Climate of Scientific Publishing-The Heat Is On.' It reflects a program that addresses both global climate change (and the role science editors have in communicating relevant research on the topic) and the rapidly changing nature of the workplace and technology in the 21st century. Prof Islam will participate in the session entitled 'Experiences from the Developing World-International Scholarship Winners'.
Recently, Professor Islam wrote a case study for INASP describing his experience of starting an online journal. The case study, entitled BanglaJOL and the JSR: My experience with the online system, was also featured in the Journals Online focused INASP Newsletter (No. 39).
