African Association of Universities (AAU) Ad Hoc Committee on University Libraries
INASP assisted the establishment of this Committee, through support for its meetings, publications and a conference, from 1998 onwards. In July 2002, the Executive Board of the AAU decided that the Library Committee should be like any other AAU Committee, subject to the same rules and conditions.

African Journals Online Publishing Project (AJOPP)
AJOPP was initiated at a meeting in Zimbabwe in 2001 with the goal of enabling selected African journals to be included on commercial online hosting services. Participants represented journals that were sufficiently well established to benefit from online publication, and who had expressed a desire to be supported in this endeavour. Outcomes from this original workshop were implementation plans for each of the journals, and INASP supported them to publish on different platforms, including Project Muse, Ingenta and Extenza (now Atypon). Support for the journals was provided by Roger Stringer in Zimbabwe. In 2006 a follow-up workshop was held based on the evaluation of the project. The projected ended at the end of 2007.

INASP-Health

Between 1996 and 2004, INASP-Health coordinated activities in the area of health information support. Activities included establishing a directory of organisations, email discussion lists, online resources and links, workshop series and other forums for health professionals to meet and exchange ideas.

During 2004-2005, INASP-Health developed the concept for a Global Review on Access to Information for Health Professional in Developing Countries to examine what had, and what not, been achieved in health information access.

A series of public workshops, open to everyone with an interest in issues of access to information for health professionals in developing and emerging countries, were organised on a regular basis between 1998 and 2003. These meetings were replaced by the discussions on HIF-net.

The World Health Organization (WHO) worked in cooperation with INASP with the aim of developing a strategic framework for international cooperation between the WHO and other organisations involved in improving access to health information.
