AuthorAID@INASP: Stakeholders and Partners

The primary AuthorAID stakeholders are young researchers, scientists and professionals working within low income countries. AuthorAID@INASP will initially work within the research networks of the International Foundation for Science (IFS) and Tropical Disease Research Programme (TDR) based at the World Health Organization (WHO), giving special attention to their members in sub-Saharan Africa and other very low income countries.

In a Knowledge Community, the traditional definitions of stakeholders and partners are less clear, as every participant contributes to and benefits from knowledge generation. The Knowledge Community built by INASP for this demonstration will also serve other organisations, such as the Council of Science Editors, and the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, that are starting their own AuthorAID projects.

At the centre of AuthorAID@INASPs intellectual, policy and programmatic evolution are the members of the Advisory Board. They will guide development of credible policies, and constitute respected and distinguished 'ambassadors' to communicate the importance of supporting authors and authorship. This Board will provide a link with developing country research institutes. Members of the Advisory Board will encourage and promote application of research results to policy and practice.

Board Members:
Peter Thomas (Australia) - Chair
Dr Ana Marui? (Croatia)
Professor Phyllis Freeman (USA)
Dr Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq (Bangladesh)

Sustainability
AuthorAID is ultimately a concept. Operation of the three part pilot programme will amount to a test of the concept. The first-stage project will last 5 years. Depending on the success of the project (as determined using Outcome Mapping), the project may continue into a second stage (perhaps 6-10 years).
