Improving quality of research publications and communication

We work to improve the quality of research publications and communication produced in developing countries. This work is focused on two key groups active in the production and communication of research publications: authors and journals.

The AuthorAID project supports researchers during the publication process through online mentoring, outreach workshops and discussion forums. We work to help improve the quality of Journals Online (JOLs) projects, we work to improve the production and publication processes of peer reviewed journals from developing and emerging countries. In particular we help journals get online and we support them to improve their online publishing standards and processes. This helps to improve the availability of such research publications and increases the discoverability and confidence readers have in the research journals in question and the individual articles that they are made up from.

The objective of working with both authors and journals is to enable researchers to more easily contribute their own research publications to the global research community and for those publications to compete more effectively in terms of visibility and quality. This helps to put research from developing and emerging countries firmly on the international map.
