Building demand for research information
Researchers, teachers, students, policymakers, the media, NGOs and other civil society organisations can all make good use of research. But they need to understand why, how and when. We work with these groups to build the demand for research information and their practical skills in accessing and using it.
- Researchers need to check previous work and results if their own research is to be well informed and original. University and college teachers need to be up to date with research developments to deliver high quality teaching. Students are often very comfortable with operating online but need to know how to find relevant, reputable information.
- Governments and policy makers are important potential users of research but often lack the skill and motivation to access and use it.
- Journalists and media organisations can raise public awareness and call governments to account on important issues but often don’t know how to access or judge the research which would help them write well-informed stories.
- Non-governmental organisations, citizen and advocacy groups can make good use of research information to help inform their work and campaigns.
