This issue focuses on our Evidence-Informed Policy Making (EIPM) activities. This programme area was set up in 2009 to help support and build the skills of policy makers and influencers to demand research. This issue looks at some of the debates that exist around EIPM as well as some of the impact of our work and initiatives we have been a part of.

The articles in this issue include:

  • A puzzling relationship: How evidence-informed policy making, democracy and poverty relate by Antonio Capillo
  • On course for information literacy: Developing an information literacy course at the Tanzania Public Services College by Dr Evans Wema
  • Anchoring policy and practice to evidence: Emergence of an evidence-informed policy network in Zimbabwe by Gilchriste Ndongwe and Ronald Munatsi
  • An empowering exercise: Training the trainers of policy makers and influencers in Kuala Lumpur by Prof. Regina Estorba Macalandag
  • Defining a research agenda: Balancing internal and external influences by Leandro Echt
